Once again this year, our volunteer judges spent hours of time reading and reviewing each of the 168 essays submitted. Final decisions have been made and prizes have been mailed to the winners in each grade category.
If it were possible, a prize would be awarded to every young Vermonter who wrote from the heart, writing an essay that was a thoughtful and sincere expression of love for a person in his or her life. We at the Vermont Right to Life Educational Trust are grateful that so many students, teachers and parents have engaged in discussion of “the value of a single human life.”
All participants will be invited to the Dobbs Decision 4th BIRTHday Picnic on the grounds of the Vermont State House on Saturday, June 20, 2026 – to be recognized, to join in a group photo, and meet other students who share the belief that every human life has value.
The top winners of the Essay Contest will have their essays posted, with parental permission, on this website after the first of the year.
ANNOUNCING the winner of the 2025 Group Prize: There were seven sponsoring organizations who qualifed for the Group prize this year – each a private school in Vermont that qualified by having at least 5 students submit an essay. The drawing resulted in United Christian Academy in Newport, Vermont being awarded the $1,000 Group Prize! Congratulations!
